About Unicode Fancy Text
What is Unicode?
Unicode is the universal standard for encoding text. It defines over 150,000 characters covering every modern writing system, plus mathematical symbols, emojis, and decorative variants.
How do fancy text “fonts” work?
What looks like different fonts are actually different Unicode characters. For example, the “Mathematical Bold” block (U+1D400–U+1D433) contains bold versions of A–Z and a–z. When you type “Hello” and convert it to bold, we replace each letter with its bold Unicode equivalent: 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨.
Because these are real Unicode characters (not styling), they work everywhere that supports Unicode — which is virtually every modern app and website.
Why don't all characters convert?
Some Unicode blocks only define letters (A–Z, a–z) without numbers or punctuation. When a character has no equivalent in a style, it's left as-is. Spaces and basic punctuation are always preserved.
Compatibility
Most modern devices and browsers support these Unicode characters. However, very old devices or systems with limited font support may show boxes (□) or question marks instead. Mathematical symbols (bold, italic, script, fraktur, double-struck) have the best support across platforms.
